Lift Chairs for Seniors and Elderly Residents

Our lift chairs for seniors tilt forward at the touch of a button to help the person seated stand up, then lower them gently back into the seat. Choose from 3-position lift chairs that recline to a nap position, or infinite-position models that stop at any position you choose. Seat heights run from 18 to 22 inches, and the Evolution comes in four sizes, including a bariatric width. Every lift chair is an FDA Class II medical device and is custom built to order in your choice of fabric and color. Looking for a chair without the lift? Compare our recliners for seniors or geri chairs.

Power Lift Chairs for Elderly Residents at Home or in Care

Resident Essentials understands that caregivers want comfort, dignity and ease for the seniors you love and care for. That's why we're proud to offer a selection of power lift chairs for elderly individuals. Designed to meet the unique requirements of aging adults, our lift chairs make getting in and out of a chair easier in daily living.

Lift chairs for seniors, also called lift recliners for seniors, go beyond standard recliners and geriatric chairs. A lift motor tilts the whole chair forward, so our power lift recliners for elderly residents offer the dual functionality of reclining relaxation and automated assistance for standing. They are designed to make it easier to transition from sitting to standing positions without exerting undue strain on their bodies.

What to Look For in a Lift Chair for Seniors

The right lift chair depends on the person using it and the room it sits in. Here is what to compare across the chairs in this collection.

  • Effortless Transitions: A lift motor raises and tilts the chair forward to help the person seated move from sitting to standing and lowers them back down just as smoothly. This makes them especially useful for those with limited mobility or strength.
  • Positions and Recline: The Genesis and Evolution are 3-position lift chairs with a chaise pad that supports the full length of the legs. The Infinite Position Lift Chair and the Tranquil 2 move to any position the user chooses, and the Infinite Position Lift Chair adds a zero-gravity design and built-in heat.
  • Seat Height and Size: Seat height decides how far someone has to lower themselves to sit. Seat heights in this collection run from 18 to 22 inches and chair widths from 33 to 43 inches.
  • User-Friendly Controls: The Genesis uses an easy-to-use toggle hand control, and the Tranquil 2 remote includes a USB port for charging a phone or tablet. The small, medium and large Evolution sizes have pull-out arms with a cup holder and storage compartment with USB-A and USB-C charging.
  • Upholstery: Choose soft cloth, a micro fabric that looks like leather (Tranquil 2), Chestnut vinyl (Genesis) or leather-like moisture barrier vinyl (Evolution in Chestnut). Pair any chair with a washable chair incontinence pad for extra protection.
  • Battery Backup: The Tranquil 2 and Evolution include a backup battery, so the chair still works during a power outage.
